Background

Knights Transport is an ambitious, fast-growing last-mile delivery company serving major logistics providers across the UK. Alongside its core fleet operations, Knights also runs an in-house workshop for rapid commercial vehicle repairs — both for its own fleet and for other transport operators — and has recently expanded into long-distance refrigerated haulage.

Problem

As a transport business looking to grow rapidly in a competitive, low-margin sector, Knights faced multiple operational roadblocks. Driver onboarding was slow and inconsistent, causing talent to drop out to rival firms offering smoother processes. Meanwhile, Knights received huge volumes of fines and operational data in varying formats, which staff had to reconcile manually in outdated spreadsheets — draining time and creating costly errors. Vehicle damage was often poorly recorded, driving up insurance premiums, and misuse of company vehicles for personal errands reduced profit margins further. Together, these issues limited Knights’ ability to scale while protecting its bottom line.

Solution

V88 designed and delivered an integrated suite of no-code and AI-powered tools tailored to Knights’ specific workflows. A mobile-friendly onboarding app now guides new drivers through a customised process with automated reminders, ensuring every step is completed quickly and accurately. Fines and other documentation are processed automatically using a combination of Glide and a V88 Agent, drastically cutting manual work and errors. Vehicle incidents can be logged instantly, with photos, videos, and data securely stored for insurance and driver performance tracking. Finally, an API link connects Knights’ tracking system to V88’s solution to monitor and reconcile vehicle usage, automatically flagging unapproved personal mileage and attributing costs to the correct driver.

Result

Since implementing the new system, Knights Transport has achieved a 100% driver recruitment success rate with zero dropouts, strengthening its competitive edge in attracting and retaining high-quality drivers. Automated fines processing has saved up to £200 per day per depot and reclaimed around seven hours of staff time daily — freeing up resources to reinvest in growth. Faster and clearer incident reporting has lowered insurance costs by improving risk profiles and accountability. Meanwhile, personal vehicle use is now accurately tracked and billed, ensuring company resources are used appropriately and profit margins are protected.
